We’re kicking butt on single use takeout packaging by offering customers a new zero waste choice when getting takeout. Customers can borrow ch00ze returnable packaging for free, and return at any ch00ze partner in our network, making sustainable takeout convenient and impactful.

Designing the system

Reuse & return packaging is a multistakeholder, complex logistics system. Designing the packaging, tech for borrow/return, smart return stations, and the backend reverse logistics was challenging, but fun. We had to make various changes along the way as our original pilot plan was disrupted by covid, therefore many changes were needed along the development phase to fit the new pilot.

Development & forming partnerships

With the system architecture designed, it was exciting to watch the various physically and digital aspects of the project come together, and for the partnerships required between NGO, coffee shops, designers, developers and ourselves starting to work together to deliver a working system.

July 2022

Pilot launch!

We launched our pilot with Greenpeace and 6 coffee shops in Sheung Wan towards the end of July. There were various bugs discovered during testing, but with a lot of blood, sweat and tears, launch day was successful! The system works!

Oct 2022

Pilot Trial

Pilot trial has been completed with 5 coffee shops at Sheung Wan in October. A pilot user: “The product is convenient to use and good for the planet.”
